Hi, I have just heard about Mo'Minis and I'm very excited to get my first project underway.
I would just like to say thank you to the Mo'Minis team for creating such a great product. I currently work as an artist in the mobile phone games industry and to see a company get around the porting and distribution issue is a breath of fresh air.
Before I start my project I just want to get some feedback from these queries:
I want to put together a motion comic/graphic novel using Mo'Minis. Is this sort of project viable i.e. do the companies Mo'Minis deals with (Ovi Store - Orange etc) open to distributing mobile graphic novel or even mobile Ebooks created with Mo'Minis?
Also these projects deal with a lot of text, does the in game text also get translated once the project is passed over to Mo'Minis (published) or would I have to consider doing EFIGs (localization) myself.
Also is it possible to change the look/layout of the main menu (splash screen). At the moment the screen shows some options 'New Game' etc is it possible to use custom made bitmap fonts (my own pixel art font)?
Hope you can help.

Hey there.

Someone will stop by soon and answer your questions about distribution, but at least I can answer about the tech stuff Smiley

The main menu is customizable, but not using the Studio. When you submit the MOM, we'll be able to edit the texts to be more relevant to an Ebook. If you have any suggestions for the texts, feel free to send them - it would help Smiley Users will be able to alter the main menu more in a future version of the Studio.

If you want to translate the texts to another language, it will require either a different MOM file for each language or to have the language be selectable inside the MOM (using some variable to keep track of which language to display). As long as you use the same font and font size for each language, the second option should work fine - otherwise I'd recommend different MOMs.

Regarding the font in the main menu, it's possible to use any font type in your computer - starting from the next Studio version, the font will be bundled with the MOM so that we will be able to use it when compiling even if it's a nonstandard font. However, it's not possible to use images for the texts in the main menu. If you'd like to use a font type you created, you can turn it into a True Type font and import it into the Studio (starting from the next Studio version).

Hope it helps.

Hey and welcome to our forum Smiley

To your question, the answer is yes. We've even mentioned that in the Gimmicks & Series page:

Quote
Interactive/Playable BooksInteractive/Playable Books

This one is really for the copywriters among us. Use your creativity to create interactive books in various genres:

    * Classic Books Parody
    * Manga
    * Comics
    * Quest

Regarding the translation, like omerp said, the menus are translated automatically. The in game text (except fot the text in the in-game menu of course) is not. However, if your game is successful in a specific region or shows a lot of potential, we might do the translation by ourselves.
On the other hand - a game that is already localized to several regions is more likely to catch traction to begin with.
So if you have the means, we encourage you to translate the game, but don't let it hold you back.
